Self-Portrait

self-portrait
My name is Janessa Ransom (nee Hunter). I saw my name written that way when I googled myself yesterday. It was in my old college newspaper, the Harvard Crimson, in a story about undergraduates who do shocking things like don a wedding dress before wearing a cap and gown. I found that and a link to the local youth soccer program where I coach my kids’ teams, plus a link to the elementary school where I was last year’s box top coordinator. Basically, it was my life as a stay at home mom all neatly linked together in cyberspace. Add some mountain biking, some reading, as much writing as time allows, and you have me, living my idyllic life, nestled at the base of American Fork Canyon, with four messy, willful, bright, caring and imaginative children, and a husband who keeps us all motivated, hardworking, and happy.
Oh my goodness–how much you look like your daughter in this pic! It’s nuts!
I’m enjoying the new blog.
Yeah, I really like it. I love that you admitted to googling yourself. It shows a vulnerability- or something- that makes you seem real, and then your writing can speak for itself. Does that make sense? I don’t know- I’m not the writer.
I’m a big follower of yours and will watch this blog with much anticipation!
Love your thoughts, insights, and stories. My favorite so far is your first… you surrendered. Your heart and soul are visible. May your most desperate dreams become real…
So happy you’ve started this blog! I already love reading it.
Also, your hair is looking amazing. I think we have twin haircuts.
Janessa, I can’t wait to read more… and to talk about writing, blogging and life. Your written portrait concept is inspired. all the best, Calli
Dearest Janessa,
Yay, I am THRILLED you have a blog! Not only do I always love your writing, I love that it will make you seem not so far away! Your portraits of friends reminds me of how another friend of mine refers to people as characters in her life — I love it!
You are amazing and I love you so! CANNOT wait to read more.
xoxo
Loving it, Janessa. So glad you’re sharing!
Janessa,
Thank you for your blog. It brightened my evening. You are the first blog that I am going to follow. I hope you take that as a big complement. You are such a cool woman!

David, thanks for sharing the links to your blogs. I love them both. Your portraits are fascinating.
Sorella Hunter,
I am so glad that you are enjoying the painting! I, like you, love Timpanogos so much, and it is always special when I know someone sees in a painting what I do as well as their own rich history with a place. I would love to see a snapshot of it in your home sometime if you get the gumption. There are a lot of choices when deciding to purchase original artwork, and when anyone even connects with a work let alone desires to live with it for an extended period it’s a miracle. Truly we are so blessed by the creative efforts of those around us, as it is obvious from this blog that your creativity is a gift to so many. Have a marvelous Thanksgiving. -D.Dibble
